What is Dirt?

We decided to till up the garden some more 

so we will be ready 

to get it started when the irrigation water 

comes on next week.  

Casey was having lots of fun playing 

because 

the dirt was so soft after it was tilled up.  

She asked if she could put Whit in

 the

 dirt to see if he liked it.  

This was his first experience actually

touching the stuff 

other than getting his 

hands in my house plants. 

 

Casey decided to bury his bottom half 

and 

he loved it.  

He kept wiggling his toes around like he couldn't get enough. 

It was fun to watch him!

Charlie

Grandma and Leslie came for a visit on their way to the Doctor in Salt Lake.  

While they were here we decided to give Charlie a haircut because he has been so itchy and scratchy.  

By the time we were finished we were a little surprised.

This morning the neighbor lady came over  to tell us how cute our new horse was.

It will be interesting to see how his hair grows back in.  Chris thinks he will turn brown again.

Pushing Ourselves!

Casey and Whit are both learning 

how to use their bodies.  

Whit is learning that he can hold himself up with his arms.  We can't decide if we are ready for him to crawl or not.  We know he would be a lot happier being able to move but he will be into everything!

Casey is learning how to do a front hand spring, round off, back hand spring all in a row.  

It is so fun to watch her push

 herself because she is so timid. 

 We are proud of her!

Last of all Heston and I painted our chicken coop today.  

By the time we were finished Heston had 

painted quite a few rocks, the wire fence, himself and the calves faces.  

The calves looked like they had been in a bloody battle with all the red paint!  

It was pretty funny!

Saturday

Today is Saturday and the weather was beautiful!  I don't think we could have asked for a nicer day.  We worked and played outside almost all day.  

Chris built a new home for Charlie and fixed my chicken coop door.  

We burned a lot of big weeds. 

 The boys tried to be cowboys and rope our calves.  

We rode our little motorcycle in the pasture.  (Levi is getting more and more brave.)  Whit even got to try out the motorcycle!   

Chris put oil in the tiller and took a couple passes through the garden so we can get our peas, broccoli and carrots  going.  The kids took their shoes off and played in the nice fluffy dirt. 

Chris rode Tike again for the 3rd time with no problems.  

I got Charlie's mane brushed out and the neighbors grand kids put a french braid in it.  

Casey and Heston made lunch almost all by themselves and created a picnic for the whole family outside on the lawn.  

Chris finished pruning our lovely grape arbor.  

One thing that is nice about days like today is the kids go to bed easy and early.  They were ready to drop by the time we finished dinner and baths!

Tike

Yesterday Chris's brother Richard came over for a visit.  

Chris was out messing with our horse Tike.  

Tike will be three next month

 and 

has never had 

anyone on his back.  

Chris has been working with him because he said it was 

time to either break him or find him a new home.

By the time Richard left both Richard and Chris were riding Tike around the corral.  

I don't know who I was more proud of:  

Tike or Chris.  

IT IS SCARY GETTING ON A HORSE THAT IS NOT BROKE! 

Chris said he is going to try

again tonight!

Good Morning!

This is what the kids woke up to this morning.  Heston spent the whole morning hovering over the incubator.  He is so excited!  

I woke up to them in the middle of the night.  They are sure loud when they are hatching!

Daily Activities

Heston and I get to spend a lot of time together.  

These are some of the things we spend our time doing.  

We work with our little horse Charlie.  Heston

is doing a great job training him.  Chris wanted

to name him Peanut but two of my sisters about 

died laughing when I told them the name.  I decided

on Charlie because I had a Golden Retriever when I 

was a kid that was all hairy and the same color.

This horse also has a mind of his own, just like my

dog did.  We are having so much fun with him.

I am taking a quilt block class.  This is my latest creation.  This is one of Heston's least favorite activities because he gets so bored hanging out at the church for so long.  He is a good sport most of the time. 

Heston helps me take care of Whit.  Here he is trying to change his diaper.  He told me that Whit's tummy was to big to strap the diaper on.  It was pretty funny. 

SNOW!

Friday night it started snowing.  It has been so warm the last couple of weeks that things have even started to grow.  Because of this we were super surprised when we woke up Saturday morning to 12 inches of soft fluffy snow.  Annabella even made the Utah news!!!  We decided to have a little fun!

Bike Ramps!

Today the boys decided to make a ramp in the road so they could jump their bikes.  It is wonderful living on a dirt road!  Heston tries his hardest to keep up with Levi.  He does a pretty good job!

Worms and Carrots

Today I decided to harvest the rest of our carrots.  Heston decided to harvest worms.  We love digging in our dirt.  It makes us have spring fever!

Rocks, Rocks, Rocks

Today we had a dump truck deliver a whole load of rocks to our house.  As the rocks were being dumped I had a funny thought.  Most people try to get the rocks out of their yard.  Interesting!
